The Ballon Bleu de Cartier is one of the house's defining modern designs, known for its rounded case and the crown set into a guard on the side of the case. This reference, W69016Z4, is the 42mm steel automatic with a silvered dial, and it is a clean, versatile dress watch with a lot of wrist presence.

The case is stainless steel at 42mm with a fixed steel bezel and a sapphire crystal. The fluted crown is set with a synthetic blue spinel cabochon. The silvered opaline dial has a guilloché center, black Roman numerals, blued-steel sword-shaped hands and a date window at 3 o'clock. It is powered by an automatic movement and is water resistant to 30 meters. It is fitted on a black leather strap.
